Chakwera appoints Mumba as minister of trade

President Lazarus Chakwera has appointed Vitumbiko Mumba as the new Minister of Trade and Industry, replacing Sosten Gwengwe. 

It is not yet known who will be the next minister of labor.

And the reasons behind Gwengwe's removal from the position have not been established.

However, the reshuffle comes barely a day after vendors in Lilongwe are marched to parliament against the rising cost of second-hand clothes.

Yesterday, Gwengwe ordered traders to lower their prices to match those of December 2024.
