Bushiri donates k40M to film industry

Prophet Shepherd Bushiri has donated 40 million Kwacha to the Film Association of Malawi to support the establishment of its offices and other activities.
The association had requested the funds to help strengthen its operations and promote the local film industry.
Speaking at the donation ceremony at Bingu International Conference Centre, Prophet Bushiri pledged to work with the asociation and ensure that the film Malawians plan to produce in collaboration with Nigerian filmmakers reaches Netflix.
He said: "I will do everything possible to ensure this film reaches great heights. I will use all my influence to make sure it gets to Netflix."

Film producer and industry expert Gift Sukali welcomed Bushiri’s support, saying it was a game-changer for Malawian cinema.
“This is the boost we have been waiting for. With this kind of support, we can now dream bigger and take Malawian storytelling to an international audience,” he said.
On her part, the association’s president, Dorothy Kingston said that they will work hard to ensure Malawians fully benefited from the opportunities created through this collaboration.
