Pastors Fraternal call for peaceful campaign

By Kondwani Nyondo

Pastor Fraternity has urged political leaders contesting in the upcoming September 16, 2025 General Election to be champions of peace and unity.

The call was made by the group’s leader, Deborah Julio Phiri, during a special prayer session held today with some of the aspiring parliamentary candidates in Lilongwe's Atrea 24.
Phiri emphasised that politicians should lead by example by promoting mutual respect and patience, while avoiding actions or rhetoric that could incite violence.
She also encouraged female candidates to remain courageous in the face of discrimination and verbal abuse often directed at women in politics.

One of the aspiring candidates for Mangochi-Nkungulu Constituency Isaac Ramsey Khan commended the clergy for organising the prayer session, saying politics should be rooted in respect for one another, and must be free from violence.
